E- library

The e- library and the virtual library were established on Wednesday concurrent with 20/2/2007, after a fruitful meeting, which was held at the Computer Center in the presence of the teacher Laith Hnosh, the Former Director of the Center, teacher Laith Mohammad Rudha, current Director of the Center, and teacher Issam Abdul Wahid, from the first day of inauguration, the e-library has received sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq Abdul Jaleel Essa , President of the University of Kufa, and Dr. Majid Kadhem, the Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, the e-Library has received a continuous and direct supervision of Mr. Laith Mohammad Rudha ,the Director of the Center in addition to dedicating a website to e-library on the university website domain, you can visit the site through this link

The Objective of the Project
-Building up a library of various electronic sources that are electronically searchable& reviewable and classified according to the general scientific disciplines.
- Embodying and archiving electronically the intellectual output of the university and its professors for the purpose of maintaining and facilitating them to be used by researchers.
-Linking the e-library to the journals and scientific groups around the world via attempting to obtain the right of access to the most important of them and organizing the researcher access.
Collecting obtainable electronic versions of scientific sources within the disciplines  set by a scientific Committee in charge of  the project.
We hope to link this library to the Iraqi Virtual Library

The  Proposed Implementation Stages  
-This stage includes obtaining the necessary approvals to ensure the cooperation of colleges and institutions of the University since  the project relies heavily on the cooperation with the relevant authorities.
-The next stage launches the collection process of already existing information at electronic dissertations, research and information center in the colleges and institutions of the University.
-Collecting the published and approved researches by university professors via the their claims of electronic copy and as a mechanism approved by the university president.
-The transformation stage: on which the written  works of the University and its professors are turned into electronic copies.
-Collecting such sources within an interface contains the indexes of each specialization field  through which, the virtual library can be searched and accessed for the required information
- Basically the computer center is to be the base of these electronic sources within the library to be the benefited from through the University Information Network .

  New Library
The library working team proceeded on the implementation of the stages related to the building of the e- library, as follows :
Launching a process of Efficient selection of programs for this work and the training the library staff how to use this software.
Obtaining the necessary approvals to ensure the cooperation of colleges and university institutions have been numbered in the books (4117.4118) on 12/4/2007
Converting all of the electronic dissertation and available research disks at the computer center according to the memos no4117. 4118 then the process of indexing each of them.
The team visited the library to the College of Jurisprudence / Scientific Affairs of the 21/4/2007, and obtained (14 disks), according to the memo No. 620 converted them  to the format required.
The team visited of the College of Education for Girls library / Scientific Affairs on 22/4/2007 and obtained (75 disks), according to the memo No. 1781 Work continues to convert these disks to the required format.
Receiving the memo  No. 336 of 17/4/2007 delivered by College of Nursing that indicates  that there were no dissertations due to its new opening, in addition to the receiving of another letter, No. 360 of 23/4/2007 in the total above contains a number of research (2) and private  
Receiving (2 CD), College of Agriculture, according to the memo No. 705 in their Memo 23/4/2007
Receiving (74 disks) of the Center for the Study of Kufa, as No. 211 in  26/4/2007
Receiving a CD and one of the College of Management and Economy according to the memo No. 1444  in 2/5/2007  
Receiving (40 disks) of the College of Engineering, , according to the memo No. 1476in the 2/5/2007
Receiving (23 disks) of the College of Arts, according to the memo No. 1742 in 8/5/2007
Receiving (68 disks) from the Central Library, and then receiving (50 additional disks).
Receiving (52 disks) at the computer center from the date of establishment of e-library and on.
Disseminating  the 2007 dissertations  in the form of the title and summary of research on the site of the University of Kufa.
Arranging Dissertations : It was observed that a lot of works and dissertations does not contain many of the requirements of the model such as the name of the dissertation supervisor and the date and the summary .... Etc.. And the lack of regulation in the types of lines and size which makes it difficult to organize them.

An e-library web page is being designed in its final steps on the web site of the university of Kufa.
The staff is continuing to catalog dissertations and researches and electronically burning them into CD s.
